Pokemon Go! The internet has been blowing up about this augmented reality game for the last week. This has led to a lot of people wondering what the hell the game is? Well lucky for you lads we’re bringing you a guide to this Nostalgia evoking wonder.
What is Pokemon?
Are you really going to make me answer that? Don’t you remember the Trading cards, the game boy games and of course the cartoon (That used to come at 5:30pm every weekday). If you have no idea what I’m talking about, just leave! On a serious note Pokemon is a long running franchise of Nintendo’s that focuses on Catching, training and battling of animal type creatures called Pocket monsters or as they’re better know ‘Pokemon’

And what does Pokemon Go Involve?
Pokemon Go literally tries to bring Pokemon alive in the real world though augmented reality. The game is played on Android and IOS handheld devices (Suck it Microsoft) . Through GPS locations and a whole lot of other fancy tech, the game generates Pokemon around you based on a number of factors including the environment/surrounding, for example you’ll find water type Pokemon by water bodies such as lakes and bug Pokemon in the grass. So in essence you land up walking a lot to find different Pokemon.
What is the objective of Pokemon Go
Well simply put you ‘Gotta Catch em all’. At the moment the game has 250 Pokemon, though this will probably keep growing as there are currently 750+ Pokemon in the franchise.
Does Pokemon Go have gyms?
You bet they do, though unlike the Gameboy games and cartoon series there are gym leaders, in Pokemon Go other groups of trainers own gyms. Once you reach level 5, you get to join a group. As part of this group you can challenge other gyms and even leave one of your Pokemon to protect the gym (This earns you the in game currency – Pokecoins). How do I start playing the game?
When you first download the game, you’ll have to login though a Google account and pick your in game avatar. There are a few options in terms of clothes, hair styles, skin color, etc so make sure to choose a combination you feel looks good. Then comes the time all young Pokemon trainers love – Picking your starter Pokemon! You can pick between Bulbasur – A classic grass type Pokemon, Squirtle – A turtle resembling water type Pokemon and Charmander – The cute but fierce fire style Pokemon. Once you choose your set to walk around endlessly searching for Pokemon!
Has it launched in India?
Nope, unfortunately we are late to the party. Reports suggest that it will release officially in Asia within the month but nothing is confirmed as of this time. Ofcourse there are some not so legal ways to download it, but we’ll leave that to your discretion.
